Each angel is handmade by Aboriginal artist Margie, who collects gum nuts and Kurrajong seed pods on Darkinjung Country. Darkinjung Country refers to the traditional lands of the Darkinjung people, located north of Sydney across parts of the Central Coast and Hunter Valley regions of New South Wales. For thousands of years, the Darkinjung people have maintained a deep connection to the area's bushland, forests, and natural environment.
Because only natural materials are used, every angel is slightly different and has its own unique character.
Gum nuts are the distinctive seed capsules of Australian eucalyptus trees and have long been used in Australian craftwork and nature-inspired decorations. Kurrajong is one of Australia's iconic native trees, and its seed pods have been used for generations in natural art and handcrafted creations.
